Headed down to Sargent w the family during memorial weekend. Not a huge salt guy but I do head down to the coast whenever I can. Saying that, I don't really know the weather patterns, tides, etc. for all the ideal times for what goes on down there. When Im down there i fish from my kayak no matter the weather! sometimes i do well sometimes i don't. I guess my questions are this:
What are some target species right now this month?
is it feasible to try a BTB in my kayak in Sargent? if so what species should i target?
What are some good locations to try? not honey holes, just nice paddles that might put me on some fish.
When is the spring flounder run? is it worth trying to get spend a day targeting flounder? I love to eat them.
Since i have a yak, should i go to mitchells cut or are there better places?
And finally, I like doing a lot of night fishing. Is it decent fishing in caney creek at night? are theres dock lights etc? Plus are the sharks getting more prevalent in the surf now that its getting hotter? hows the seaweed?

Sorry for all the questions, the family and I make it to the beach maybe 2-3 times year and its always Port A and galveston. I do well sometimes but I'm always going off on my own trying to catch fish. this time I'm wanting to stay with the family more and just relax and fish. maybe throw the surf poles in play on the beach with my daughter waiting for a big red or shark or something. or if the wind is from the north from what i read it will calm the seas and maybe go out in my yak 400yds to 1/2 mile or so see what i can get.
All advice is much appreciated and a thanks in advance!
Oh, and what are the good bait stands? sorry

I have no idea myself. I did read somewhere on here that there is a texas kayak fishing forum. There is a topic in there specifically about btb kayak fishing you may want to check out.

BTB = beyond the breakers. Referred to paddling beyond the surf from the beach. There is a Texas kayak forum BUT the kayak section here is also very active, I would try posting this there as well.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?
