wow, incredible shot... it never occurred to me that I've never seen them come out of their shells even though I would collect them by the bag full as a child

Those things use to live in the weeping willow tree in my front yard by the hundreds. I would see them coming out of their shells on my porch early in the morning in early summer. By mid summer they would be so loud in the tree in my front yard it was crazy if they suddenly stopped it would make me look outside to see if someone was there. A bad storm blew that willow down about 2 years ago though. I still hate when those things fly out of the bushes and trees right in my face. When we were kids we would pick them up and they would buzz continuously and we would act like we were shaving with them. Lots of good summer memories come with the sound of those cicada's, great photo!
