Most folks think they are very, very good. The mirage drive system is the most efficient kayak propulsion system available and they come loaded with things that are options on most other boats. Many fishermen like the "hands free" features Hobie Kayaks provide. My best advice is to give one a try to see if it is right for you.
I see you are in Waco - if you ever make it towards Dallas, give me a ring and we can set up a demo. Have fun figuring this all out!

I have two and I believe that they are the best yaks available. The mirage drive and hand steerable rudder make these yaks very easy to fish from but those aren't the only things. If you get a chance drop by mariner sails and have them show you some of the other engineering that has gone into making these yaks so great such as the plug in cart, etc.

I believe they build quality kayaks. I also believe that they are building one of the "most efficient kayak propulsion system available". My advice is to demo as many kayaks as you can so that you can tell the difference for yourself.

I love my PA12 and would never use anything without the Mirage drive. The ONLY drawback so far is no reverse. Otherwise the ting is awesome.

Also check out the native propel kayaks. We have sold out of them at High Trails, since we are going out of business we are not ordering anymore. I just bring it up since they do have a reverse and our customers loved them. Im sure Mariner sails have them to demo verses the hobie.
