Weight,diameter etc isnt the context
Never bothered weighing my bait net so I couldnt tell you ???
Throwing nets is about "how you do it"

I dont always fish Texas or the US waters,no law against 12' nets in the boat
The rest Ill leave to your assumptions,1lb per radius foot should get you close to average quality nets.

Actually for me, weight is very much the context, which is why I asked the question - like I said, I have a neurological condition and as a result, weight is a very important factor. Each time I have to lift a weight I begin to fatigue, so regardless of technique, I think it's fair to assume that a 12' net has to be more than twice the weight of a 5'. You have to be able to lift a net if you're going to throw it. A 12' just isn't an option for me.

No offense, but that's just physics.

I stand corrected on legal size in Texas - it's 14'.

14' diameter. When you buy a net its measured in radius. A net with a 7 ft radius is a 14 ft.

Max in Texas is a 7ft

Good point - It's little confusing - TPWD regs are in terms of diameter ("May not be greater than 14 feet in diameter"), but all of the nets I've seen are labeled with radius, which is why a 12' net didn't make sense to me. In reality it's a 6' which I think I could handle.

Wading out before casting, when fishing on the bank is most of the time a key factor. Providing your fishing a gentle sloping bank.
