Morning, going to Palestine for several days to scott for next month. Where is a good clean and air conditioned place to stay at reasonable price? Suggestions for place to eat near lake. Thanks in advance for 2 or 3 suggested areas to start bass fishing. Friend said old folks playground, what does that mean? Have a good day and thanks for reply......WKK

I started to just post a "popcorn" icon.
If you've never been on Palestine, it's really a good idea to fish the South end. If you have someone that can show you where it's safe to run, etc. .... ok, if not, the North end can make you consider taking up golf.

Now Entering the Black Forest
Caution:
-camouflage cottonmouths
-stumps are perpetually 4" under surface
-unforecast windstorms
-gators that act funny
-game wardens off their meds
Have a Nice Day smile

Flat creek ,Kickapoo, and the Neches river is where most tournaments are won . All of the above places are a nightmare if you do not know how to get in and out. Idle and proceed with caution is the only way to learn these area's. If you are one of those people that don't like your boat scratched ,dinged and abused . Then the advice is fish the deep end. There is fish on the deep end .But usually not enough to win.
Lake Palestine resort is a decent place to stay

Lake Palestine Resort is a good place to stay and they have a cafe on site with good food. The resort is located in Highsaw and Ledbetter creeks this is a good place to start if not going north. Saline creek is another straight across the lake. When running main lake on the south end stay on the east side there are some danger areas on the west side. If going north it is a learning thing. Idle only in kickapoo, neches and flat creek. There are ramps in all these areas that take some of the danger out. How old folks got its name I have no idea. It is located on the west side about 1 miles north of kickapoo bridge coming out of chandler. On the north end of Old folks its just a opening about 10' across and winds around for maybe 1/2 mile to the opening on the south end witch is pretty large.

Thanks for the information. Palestine resort and cafe it is. I like to catch fish and understand slow & easy when in the timber. My rig looks good and is well maintained but does have a few marks on it. Maybe I'll see you on the water. Good luck and again thanks................WKK
