I would like to ask some questions and get some honest opinions from Phoenix boat owners. I plan to purchase a new boat later on in the summer. I have owned a Skeeter ZX 250 that I ordered new in 2004. I have been very pleased with the boat, however I am not married too the brand. Yesterday my wife and I looked at the new Phoenix 921 PRO XP at a dealer in the area. I will set up a test drive with the dealer in a couple of weeks. From what I've seen on the show room floor. I like the boat but do have a few questions.
1. Found the seats to be uncomfortable.
2. The passenger console which is removable is a feature I like, however it seems to me it would shake & rattle running in
choppy lake conditions
3.Consoles seemed to set little low. Lots of wind running at high speed.
4.Daisy wheel tackle system does it rattle and shake while running choppy conditions.
5.How does the room in the battery / rear compartment work out for you guys? Seems small to me.
6.Please describe your experience in boat handing smooth and choppy conditions.

I am considering also the Skeeter FX 21 if any one has changed over from Skeeter to Phoenix I would like to hear your comments. If you would rather not make any negative comments on the post please pm me. I would just like to be informed about the Phoenix line. Thanks in advance

You understand that your posts is way too detailed and thought out.. you have not left nearly enough room for the "you should buy a nitrolegendskeeterrangerchampions " comment.

I have never been married to any boat brand. The boat I currently have is a 13 Z521. I test drove the Phoenix 721 and 921 several times before deciding on my pick. There is nothing I can really say bad about the Phoenix. I thought the boats were really hot and told everyone it was going to be my next boat. I had almost the exact same concerns as the ones you listed above. The seats and the console is why I did not choose the Phoenix. For me the Z521 was more comfortable than the Phoenix.
I really liked the FX 21 as well. I was between the Ranger and Skeeter. Who was giving me the best deal and who I thought would give me the best service afterwards were my final decision makers.
I know everyone wants to feel like what brand they have is the best, but I think most top brands make a great product you can't go wrong with. Just pick the one that is the most comfortable for you and who you feel can give you the best service afterwards.

I do not own one nor have I rode in one but I have crawled all over a 721. My biggest dislikes are the taller gunnels along side of deck and front deck overall. The 721 deck is way smaller than my 07 zx250. They do seem very well put together and nice boats they are just not for me. Btw I am not married to skeeter mater of fact I never figured I would own one I had a ranger before and a javelin before that.

Myself, I don't like the lay out and especially the deck height. We talked to Greg Vinson at the Burnin' Stump Friday evening and he has one. Nice boat, but I still have the same opinion.

a guy i fish with quite a bit, including tournaments has one. we recently were at toledo and then fished a little tourney last weekend in it. as far as the rattling question, toledo would have shaken most boats parts but i never noticed it making any rattling noise and i was sitting behind the passenger console in some of the biggest water i've ever seen. never notced any noise coming from the box with the lazy susan or whatever it's called. i haven't had an issue with the seats comfort-ability but i'm fairly young. as far as drive in big water, on that toledo trip we were on plane in some big waves trying to find a new area a friend had told my partner about. we were cruising along going into them no problem, boat handled them great, we realized we were going the wrong way or too far or something so we shut down to turn around and head back the other way in the boat lane and when we came off plane waves started rushing over the front and sides. it was crazy big and once we were off pad they were at head height. he calmly turned the boat around, got centered in the lane and put her back up on plane. it was pretty rough getting her up running with them, but once he got her planed out she ran very well going back with those big rollers. that was easily the biggest water i've ever been in and that boat handled it extremely well. and i don't want to know if it will handle bigger stuff as that's all i want of that. so long story short, yes it handles rough water well. his is 921 as well.

I have no complaints out of the seats. Removable console is secure with no rattles or noises that I have ever heard. The only thing I'm not real impressed with is the lazy Susan just fir the simple fact I don't carry hardly any of the small Plano boxes which it is fitted for. With that being said it still holds plenty of tackle. I have a s.h.o. on mine, so there is no oil reservoir. I added and extra battery to my starting and accessories side and still have plenty of room to add another one if needed. So as far as room back there plenty big enough for my needs. You will just need to test drive one and crawl all over it and decide if the fit is right for you. I will be a Phoenix owner for a long time as long as they continue making a quality and reasonably priced product.

Thanks guys for all the responses, glad that smd chimed in on the rough ride. I'm keeping an open mind and will take the test drive when I come back from offshore hitch. I am still leaning toward Skeeter because of the last 10 years I have had zero problems out of mine. Many thanks Okhissa2 for the pm. I have a Skeeter dealer about 10 miles from the house and the Phoenix dealer is about 60 miles, Heck the Skeeter I bought in Baton Rouge, but it's nice to have a short drive to get any work done. I will be putting a SHO on the back for sure. I really liked the looks of the Phoenix liked the layout and the extras that most brands offer as options. Thanks again guys.

I have a 2013 920 and it is the best 20 1/2' rough water boat I have ever been in. I wouldn't get the Lazy Susan because it's not a good design. I have the regular trays in that compartment. Boat has a great layout and all my customers have been very impressed with the ride and fishing platform. This is a very tight boat. Feel free to call me if you want more details.

I have a 721 going on 5 years. I don't use the lazy Susan. I think I'll remove it. Then I can stuff light gear up there. I have 4 batteries, extra prop, oil container and power pole pump so space in the back is not an issue.

I've been in some nasty waves. I can't say I stayed dry in all cases but for the most part it has handled well.

I don't think the seats are uncomfortable and I'm old. I almost traded in the 721 for a 921 last month. I still might.

I like the removable console. I take it in and out a lot.
