Sam - Yeah, it was a real good day. The fish were feeding all day, but hitting real light, so I only had a few chances to get a hookset. Luckily for me, I was able to nail the few I set on.
Geekfish - I'm "healthier" but I'm still no where near "normal" lol. As I told Mike, I'm sort of at a wait and see phase right now...Treatment is on hold to see how my body can do on it's own for a little while, whether I hold steady, or drop back to low levels.
So basically, I figured, screw sitting at home and resting, I'm going fishing while I can!
I went out Wednesday to a different spot on GV and caught 6 commons, and a 21 pound buffalo. Got the whole story down in Rough Fish if you want to read it.
To answer your question, yes, they were caught straight up Starless style. Well, actually my first fish I caught on Mike's pole, as he kept missing and i hadn't unpacked my own gear, and he offered to let me watch one of his poles if I'd shown him how it was done.
So...Next hit he had...I did just that.

But the others, including the biggest, the 16, were caught on my traditional sweet corn rig.
All the fish I got wednesday, the 6 commons and the 21 pound buff, were caught "Starless style" as well.
I let Mike handle the smaller fish... :p
Glad you like seeing scruffy old me holding up fish again...something feels right for me catching them again, too!
Abel - Thanks! Actually the long hair I've had for years, the scruffy beard used to be a scruffy goatee. But while in the hospital I wasn't allowed to shave at all, because of severely low platelet and potential bleeding issues. So it grew into a beard, and I just decided to keep it. Lol.
Geek - You must be right...my fishing power comes from my hair! Muahaha!
Slider- Yeah, traditional healthy smallmouth buffalo shape...A big, fat, grey football of pure drag pulling muscle! Tom Hanks, LOL. Nice. And thanks!
WyattT - The Cliffs are attractive to carp and buffalo because it is a very steep drop off. Carp and buffalo relate to structure just as bass do, and the cliffs are a very rocky, very steep drop off. Fish cruise the deeper water, then move up and down the drop off in search of food. Carp and Buffalo like things like crawfish and mussels, and obviously there are plenty of both amidst the rocks there. They can come up shallow to feed, then bolt off into deeper water real easy.
This time of year a lot of carp and buffalo are moving up shallow to feed, as that's where I caught them on Wednesday. But plenty of fish, especially buffs, are still hanging out in the deeper water.
And thanks!
Fishfrk22 - Thanks! Lol, I have thought about it, yes. I like myself better this way at the moment. I actually had really short hair and was totally clean shaven for a long time. My Driver' liscence picture is from before I started growing my hair out, and it literally looks nothing like me these days. I take it out to buy a beer at a restuarant or whatever, and the bartender usually stares long and hard at it. Lol
