I just bought a Daiwa Laguna MH 7 ft at Academy for 20.00. It's my very first bass fishing rod so I don't know if it's garbage or not. Just throwing it out there.

Go to academy and look at the falcon hd and the h2o ethos. I have an ethos nano for swimming jivs and have boat flipped 5 lbers no.problem. Dont get hung up on brands just look at the specs and materials on a rod and go from there.

They're isn't a rod under $100 that's great. That bin said academy dosent offer anything good but the Powell diesel is a good rod. I would pick that rod over any on the market. If you can hit the $100 mark then 13 omen. Also I would get in the trading post and find a much nicer rod for your price range. The new all stars are trash. I'm sorry to hurt some of your feelings but they are. The h20 express are just as bad. Try don't build them correctly.

Also check the classified section. Plenty of deals to be had. I've seen falcon lowriders and various older shimano rods for that price.
