I have a skeet Reese victory baitcaster, when I pull the line (like you do for checking drag) it'll pull out as if my drag was set real low, but I've set it right and am at a loss. I can't send it anywhere or even take to get fixed that's why I ask. Anything is appreciated thanks!

Could be bad drag washers. It could also be way to much grease ro oil on them causing them to slip some.

Did this just start happening? How old is the reel? Did you work on it? My guess is that your line is slipping around the spool...you using braid?

Yes, probably slipping. You need mono or at least tape on the spool first before the braid or it will slip as you described.

Yes, probably slipping. You need mono or at least tape on the spool first before the braid or it will slip as you described. +1 Your braid knot on the spool is slipping, causing all of your line to slip. Pull out all of your line, and place some electrical tape across your knot so it doesn't move. Once you reel it all back in and test it out, and you are sure that was the issue, than you should still consider using some mono as backing. Helps to keep backlashes from digging in so hard. Steven

simple check is peel off enough line that you can hold the spool edge to keep it from rotating then try and pull the line. If the line comes off and the spool isn't turning....thats your sign :-)
