I don't tournament fish but I do use my net on any fish over 2 lbs. I hate losing fish.

If I'm closed quaters like flipping then most likley the fish is coming straight in the boat.Several times mostly with cranks fish have fell off in the net. It also depends who the net man is. Some people fumble around while others get it done. Fun fishing I'll flip a 6 in the boat without blinking an eye. In a tourney I hope a nets available. So for me it's the situation on wether or not I use the net or not.

I usually have my net tangled in the bottome of a rod locker with spare rods and gear on top of it.

ONCE I get hooked into something nice, i think "damn it! get the net" I then scramble for the net while playing the fish. Only to get the fish to the boat, and land it by hand.

I'm superstituous, a fish never bites when I've got my net rested on my butt seat!

Funny how some of you don't want a net stabber. If I am going to have a partner net a fish he better stab that net under that fish as soon as I bring it up. I normally tell my partner what the fish is doing them when that fish comes up he better get it. I do not believe in bringing fish to the net

I don't use a net for bass. I do for several other species. When I do I always use a rubber net. It's easier on the fish and easier to get hooks out of.
