I have just found out that the ECU box is bad on my mercury motor. I also found out the price of a new one!! I almost fainted!!! Does anyone know where I can get a rebuilt one or get mine rebuilt? Just need one cheaper one. Part number is 824003A8. Thanks!

I'd try getting on the horn to some marine dealers. Many have some salvage engines laying around that may have an operational ECU.

Is it the fuel pump driver bad? If it is that can be re-wired to work. I have bought several off of Screamand fly.com

Pump driver? Like Gary says. Way around that. Know several that's been runnin' that way for a very long time.

Can also use these.
A1
A5
A11
A30

A5 and 11. These two or for tha 200 ProMax. Only difference is they have 6500 limiters in 'em.

Diamond Marine can repair most of tha ecu's. Pricey but better than buyin' from Merc or a doa from ebay.

Just be VERY careful buyin' used if ya do..........

Yes it is my fuel pump driver that is bad. I called CDI electronics but they want 1100 dollars to rebuild mine. steve will that part number fit on my boat? My original part number is 824003A8.

TLW I have an ECU box here that is A1. I called a mercury marine tech and he told me not to run that part number box on my boat for too long. He said that the fuel amount delivery is different even though the A1 come off of an 200 efi just like mine but a little older. Will it hurt it?

I agree on that. Some ran really good and some had "lean" spots in tha fuel curve. Think it was still an analog at tha time also. Not totally sure 'bout that though. Never seen tha a25. Last 2.5 efi had tha a30 till they went "GREEN" with all production motors. Steve's might run just fine. With these things ya really never know till ya run 'em.

You might consider what Gary is sayin'. A good relay, little wirin' and your back in business. Might wanna give Diamond Marine a call also. Think they are way better and lot cheaper last I checked. MPO, I wouldn't let cdi even look at a ecu of mine but that's 'nother deal.

Does your a1 have tha pig tail hangin' out tha bottom front?

TLW it does have that hook up. I am running the A1 right now. It fixed my problem of the boat running like [censored] but now it will die when idleing. I pump the bulb up and it cranks right up and runs outstanding, but when i crank it up it will die just about every time. Like i said it will only do it after it is cranked up first but it runs just fine after that. Im guessing it is because im running the A1 but i have no idea..
Steve I will do some checking around to see if it will be compatible. Thanks for the offer, I will keep up updated.
Boat whisperer I will definitely give them a call. Are you a customer of theirs. Do they do good work?
