For all you die-hard Senko guys, what's your preferred rod specs for fishing weightless Senkos? I'm using a medium/fast rod and a 6:1 reel and getting decent hook-up results, but I'm wondering if there might be a more ideal setup.

I think a medium setup is ideal. The 7" senkos have enough weight you should be able to feel everything with it. Now if you drop down to a 5" you may want something a tad lighter but it's not going to be night and day. Reel speed IMO is not real important when fishing senko since you are letting it do most of the work by the slow fall.

I really like the Faclon Cara Finnese Jig rod for Senkos. It's a very versital rod.

I also like he Falcon Cara Weightless Worm rod. I use both but the Finnese jig has a little more backbone.

I have a Kistler z-bone 3 power in 7'6" length for open water, long casts. Throws the 5" well and a 6" a mile.

MH fast action for the 5" and 6" baits. The 7" is a big hunk of plastic and really needs a heavy action rod.

I guess I'm weird. I prefer a Med/Light.

For a 5 inch Senko wacky rigged I use a 683 since im using a small hook. For a Tx. rigged Senko I use a 684 because I usually use a 3/0 or 4/0 hook.

Thanks for all of the feedback. It looks like for the most part it's split down the middle between medium & medium/heavy.

I use a ML for weightless Senko's and I have caught a 12.9 and 10.2 on it. Mine is an old Shakespear IM6 that I had left over form salt water trout fishing. Works great.
