Due to the late warmup we was delayed in getting our tubes into the water. Finally got out this past weekend. Picked up a couple decent bass in about 8' of water on jig & pigs and a few nice bluegill on the fly rod. Going out again this weekend for smallies and big greasy sunfish.

Nice fish for sure. If thats the lake at McAlester, several of us fished that lake over 30 years ago on water wagons and caught good fish. I live in the Texas panhandle and don't get over there anymore. How is the lakes condition? There used to be a Hydrasport boat dealer there in McAlester we bought a boat or two and best I remember his last name was McAlester.

Prison lake is clear and healthy and rarely fished other than the occassional prison employee. In fact, since you've last been here, all 3 of the mcalester lakes have cleared up. Definitely blessed with some good fishing around here. Almost 20 lakes within a 45 min drive of my house. It's a wonder how I hold a job as much as I fish!

Man that is good news to hear about the lakes. So many lakes in bad shape. Our lakes around here are in bad shape because of the drought for the last 4 years. I know Oklahoma got a lot of rain this last year and that is good. My brother lives in Shawnee but he doesn't fish.
Besides the larger lakes we used to fish over in Oklahoma we used to fish our wagons a lot on Vincent, (up by Shattuck) Dead Indian, Leedy, and there was a lake north of Geary but I can't remember its name right now. You guys got lots of good places to fish. I envy you.
