i have been using it for about three months now. I love it, it may not be the best unit you can buy but it sure beats the grey scale one i was using before. I'm still learning how to read it but its a quality graph for sure

i have the elite 4 with gps. same ff though. it works very well. i like being able to take screen shots and down load to my phone and txt pics with gps coordinates to my friends with the same unit. the details on the fish finder are impressive. when you see a tree you can count the branches. and using it at kayak speeds.is perfect. gives you a very good pic of whats down there.

How do yall have the trans mounted I found out last night the back of my kayak does not sit as low in the water as I thought. So I'm thinking about buying the scupper mount for it

What settings are y'all using for bright sunlight conditions? I am having a hard time reading my unit under these conditions.

I wanted the hdi but they didn't have it and I already had it set in my mind I was getting one that day. As far as the settings for light I haven't used it but once at night so I'm not sure yet

I have the lowrance Mark 4 HDI chartplotter and I love it. Ive been busy and really havent gotten to take out my kayak much but when I did, the Mark 4 HDI worked great. Sonar produced a clear pic of what is under me. I always have both the reg sonar and the down scan displayed split screen so I can compare the 2 and learn how to read it. I mounted the transducer shoot thru hull method as far back as I could place it from the front hatch.

I wanted to mount mine like that but the instructions and all the videos I saw said it had to be perfect and I don't do things well that need to be done perfect

I was afraid of that too. But so far it works great. Used marine goop and press the transducer down and it stayed down. Only problem I had was that it slide a little bit. So I kept moving the transducer back couple of time until I found some tape to hold it still. So far it works great. So I guess there isn't any air bubbles in the goop. With all downscan imaging, they recommend not to do shoot thru hull in a boat. But kayak is fine. Just try not to get any bubbles in the goop. All of my friends mount shoot thru hull with their downscan with no problems.
