Having been an avid bass fisherman since 1950, I have had some strange catches while fishing for bass. For example, at Calaveras, I once hooked a nutria that slapped at a Zara Spook with a front paw. At Eloika Lake, Washington, I caught a 4-pound rainbow trout on a live 5" waterdog. I once had to cut my line when an owl got hooked on my black Jitterbug at night (imagine my dismay when I set the hook and my line started going UP!). Caught a bullfrog on a flyrod frog. Catfish on jig & eel. Lots of bream and a 35-pound drum. I'm just wondering what some of the rest of you have caught while fishing for bass. Alligators, maybe?

I don't bass fish at all but last year we did land 2 seagulls on the same trip on sassy shad baits, we had to net them to release them all healthy. They hit the casted baits.

I'm not going to call it "accidents" but a scum frog will get stuck in a gator's teeth and allow you to play around with them without getting stuck in there MOST of the time...

So yes, gator for me.

Longnose and spotted gar on rouges all the time...hate those guys.

Below Lake D'arbonne I'd snag one or two paddlefish on a crankbait when water was trickling over the spillway.

I was fishing a KVD 1.5 and caught a turtle the size of a trash can lid....he put up a pretty good fight...

Sunday morning I watched my partner catch a largemouth, sandbass, crappie, and a catfish all on a senko within 30 minutes, Lake Fork!

For good measures, I asked him to foul hook one of those 30 lb carp tearing up the grass line too, lol!

A bluegill hit my Musky size Jitterbug at night.

Against my gut feeling I put a couple top water baits on kids poles. Noticed they were sneaking chips to ducks from back of boat and told them to stop.

A couple minutes later kids are screaming and feathers are flying. My first time handling a "live" duck.

Mud duck,crappie,turtle,bream/sunfish,flathead catfish,channel catfish, sandbass,hybrid "from squaw creek" gar,drum,tilipia,warmouth,bullfrog,purple personal massager, and lots of trash and cans etc.im sure I've left something out.

I caught a 30# flathead catfish a few years ago on a Gambler Craw.
Numerous drum on crankbaits, mainly lipless cranks.
Last summer I caught a ginormous gar with an Xcite Uber shad while Carolina riggin''.

6 foot water snake. i was asking for it, flipped a lizard next to his mouth while laying on a log. he didn't make it to the boat i cut the line. Same thing with a nutria.
