LOL, yeah, I think the camera is close up on a 10lb fish... Looking at the size of the rope and scale in comparison to the fish and there is no way that's an 80 lb fish.

guys, come on...who cares if it's 20 or 80lbs - there's a golden rule about making comments like that when it's a kid/fish pic...you just don't do it.

It blows my mind that you can determine all that, simply by looking at a photo. What size/type of scale is that? What about the rope? If you don't like or agree with the picture, than move on to another thread. Just sayin...

great comments, it's an old scale you put the fish on it through the gills, it's usually accurate past 40Ibs. I wasn't there personally,  but I know my cousin isn't little! Lol

Great fish no doubt!!!but like ol boy said.. 3/8" rope in its mouth so maybe 6" wide mouth on it.. i can put both of my hands in a 20#yella cat..

thats a 5/8" rope and the fish is easily 50" in length
That old "block" scale is something many have never seen,
they do in fact "get close enough" to actual weight even after 40+yrs of use.
Its a real nice fish,just hate to see it "hanging".

Curious, why do you hate to see it hanging. Also curious as to why y'all are always hating on people in this forum. Its clearly a young man with a nice big catfish that put a smile on his face and y'all have to search out something negative, either its not the way you fish, not the size you think it is or not how you would show it. I write very few posts here and its a shame that I feel compelled to write one out of disappointment.
