 Telling the difference in Abu Reels

Am I correct in thinking that any Abu reel with the shield on the side is made in Sweden and the ones made in China do not have the shield ?

If they have a "S" or "BCX" after the numbers, it is Chinese made [censored].

Even the wal mart abus have the shield painted on them. Swedish made reels will always say made in Sweden.

It will have "made in Sweden" engraved typically on the reel side

If they have a "S" or "BCX" after the numbers, it is Chinese made [censored]. also an "i" as in 7000i.i know some of them have a bad rap, but i have 2 7000i s and they are awesome

I have two 5600 C4s and one 7000I. the 5600s are about ten years old and have never gave any problem just regular cleaning. The 7000 is about 5 years old and same thing all awesome reels and all Swedish made. Thanks for the input.

Stay away from the BCX and if it isn't made in Sweden, it's [censored].
I have 7 used 5000 & 6000 series I picked up on eBay & couldn't be happier.

The chinese made abu's are just junk with one exception. The 7000i is a beast of a reel. Almost like puttin a winch on a rod. That reel I would buy!
