My son and I fished avidly until he was 13 years old at which time I chose to follow his interests which lead to motocross, broken bones, Jeeps. etc. Eventually he graduated from college, got a great job in the health care field, and got married. We still are fairly close but we have our separate lives. I have migrated back to fishing and have a weekend place on lake Fork. Due to his schedule we can't always hit the fish at the perfect time. As you all know Fork is one of the most risk/reward lakes around, great at times and oh so humbling at times. I had planned a trip with my son for his 31st birthday (yesterday). As luck would have it, we have had a 4 day cold front in May, with strong north winds. Normally that would put pressure on Dad (me) to produce fish while fighting the trolling motor in the wind all day. This time however I changed my strategy and booked a trip with Eddie Garrett. The result was great. I got to sit back and enjoy a great day of fishing with my son and let Eddie do the work! He kept us on a steady stream of bites all day with few lulls in the action. We didn't catch giants just nice unders and slots. I got to sit in the back of the boat, relax and watch my son enjoy the day while jerking a few for myself. Thanks Eddie for truly giving Dad the day off to spend with his son on his birthday!
