Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a law that all the fish have to go back to the lake where they were caught? I'm just curious to how that works with fish being weighed in from both lakes. I've heard about these types of tourneys before, but I have never fished one like that. Somebody chime in with some good info.

You are correct. fish can't be released from one lake to the other, so if someone was to fish both lakes and wanted to be in complete compliance with the law they would need to keep track with cull tags which fish came from each lake and they would need to be returned back to that lake.

Thanks for the info. Seems like more trouble than it's worth to drive to a weigh-in and then drive your fish back to the lake.

Plus if you were to fish both lakes you couldn't cull certain fish.

You always fillet them when the tourney is over so you don't have to drive back to the other lake. bolt

Like Heath said - It is a hassle to keep up with, Most who fish this 1 do either Cypress or Sandlin all day. The ones who fish Cypress weigh their fish then take them back. Used to be that you could take fish from Cypress and release them in Sandlin, or at least that was what the State Park folks told us since Sandlin is below Cypress. Heath is the man in that area I would take his word as Gospel.

I'm the TD, feel free to ask me any questions.. sorry, just noticed this post.

anyway, just like any trail, our rules state that you have to obey all state laws, etc.

If you fish cypress and bring fish to weigh in from cypress, those fish need to be released back into cypress... normally someone will volunteer to release them back for you or I will if no one else does.

If you fish both lakes, you need to keep track of your fish and release them back into the lake where they came from. It's up to you to follow the law and you can obviously be strung up and tortured by Heath if he finds you! plus you can be disqualified from the T.

We like to give the anglers the option to fish either lake, more fun, more water, see y'all there, should be a good one!!!

Seems to me you would almost be forced into fishing one lake or the other to some degree. If you start on Cypress, catch maybe 3 keepers, then move to Sandlin, what are you going to do if you catch 3 more keepers and want to cull one of the Cypress fish? Legally, you can't! So, you had better be darn sure whatever fish you take from one lake to the other that there is little to no chance of it getting culled, lol. Decisions, decisions.
