Used to be on the fence but after reading Mr. Harpers posts on the subject I found bioedge minnow scent cheap and decided to give it a try. I'm a believer now and hate fishin without it. My fishin partner and I normally go 1 to 1 when fishing jigs but when I use the bioedge stuff and he uses his sprays I usually come out ahead. I think the garlic sprays cover bad scent and the more natural oily or gel scents actually do have some attractant in them.

Not a pro staffer or anything just sharing my experience, could be a confidence thing but either way for me It's worth the pennies to use the stuff.

I'm a firm believer of using scents.

Bass Pookee is the best that I could find

If the fish are not biting great I think it helps for sure!

There are times the fish seem so aggressive it seems not to matter

I like bang, easy to apply, seems to last and fairly cheap

I hesitate to fish soft plastics w/o scent. I have fished with and w/o side by side and always have come out ahead with.

I saw a couple votes for bass pokee? couldn't find it in a google search, then we had a couple votes for the bang product, easy to find. Then Megastrike, I've tried several scents and this is one that I feel worthwhile, especially when fishing gets tough.

Then there was Bioscent? I did find a webpage for this product. I wanna try D Harpers stuff but I don't think he sells the scent separately so I probably need 100 of his baits I guess.

Of course I've made my own scents too, a memorable batch was dead minnows in sardine oil and I let this set up in the dark garage for a couple days. My buddy opened it and puked right away, so it didn't get anymore trial. Cats in the neighborhood did like it tho.

Look in the classified section. The bass pokee is sold out of Denton and Donald does sell the scent by itself.

I have run the gamut of bass scents from A to Z, some have eaten the bark off trees, desolved the glue that held down the carpet in the boat, glowed in dark stuff and even some stuff that never was made to fish with WD40, Preparation H, to name a few.
Still best ones one out there are KicknBass and plain old Cod Liver oil from the drug store

Hey Donald I saw u say something about Brady lake, I was born in brady and spent lot of time at that lake, I heard there was a fish kill there a few years back, sad to hear. Also You think nightcrawler scent is better than crawfish scent? like fishing bush hogs I figured crawfish scent would be better than night crawler but could be wrong/

I'm gunna try the mega strike. I've always been a bang user but the smell gives me a horrible headache. I don't know what it is. I know amazon has a ton of Carolina lunker sauce right now. it seems way more expensive than it was when I bought it at gander one time.

I feel that the pink smelly jelly is the best craw scent. Five or six years ago we tested it for several days in Mexico against Night Crawler. Three boats fishing and rotated baits with the scent on them each day. The boat using Night Crawler each day won our little tournament we had going on. With the 5 biggest fish. We all have pitch counters in the boat to keep up with the numbers caught each day. Night Crawler also produced the most fish caught each day.

This went on for 3 days so we all had a chance to use it and each boat won on that day. We try to make some kind of game out of it for a few days; but everybody wants to have those 100 fish days and it is hard not to throw what works.

It is just like throwing a senko, crank bait, spinner bait and traps. It is all just for a change and fund; but what they really want is that brush hog or lizard. I have found from doing this for 25 years down there that to consistently catch 100 per day you better leave that other stuff alone. We always make some kind of test on something every time we go.

We are going on May 15 through the 24. Some of that is travel time. We will have 6 days of fishing. We will test my newest Baby Doll Jig with the heat signature cylinders this trip against 4 or 5 other jigs. I already know what the results is going to be; because all the bass over 10 lbs. that I have caught down there have been on my spinner bait in January running the heat cylinders on it. I don't think it will ever get close to 100 per day on a jig because I have had lots of customer throw a jig and it doesn't take them very long to change over to the lizard.
