I'm trying to decide which one to buy. I'm looking at a Triton 18xs or the Bass Cat Sabre. Both with150 mercury, the Triton 7" longer and 1" wider. I would put the deck extension in the Sabre so deck space will not be an issue. The triton about $3000 cheaper. I don't have experience with either.
Thanks Larry

If you are looking at an 18 foot boat then hands down between the two I would recommend the BassCat. I've ridden in several 18 foot Tritons (older ones) and the ride very rough. They have one called the "Texas Tornado" which was one of the worst riding 18 foot boats I was ever in. I think it had something to do with the cockpit being too far forward but I'm not an expert just a fisherman. I've also been in an 18 foot Sabre and it rode much better. But, it is an 18 foot boat so it will have limitations.

Now I've never driven either so maybe you will get some other posts from owners or previous owners of each.

Thanks the Cat a little better equipped but a little more money. Would have to have that deck extension. Want to be able to fish and get around the lake without worrying if the winds get over 15mph.

If they are late models I would go with the Triton, the earlier models were not as nice as they are now. For 3K less you could add a couple poles or electronics. I am sure either of them would be just fine.

Don't measure length of the deck measure width. Lay 4 or 5 rods down on each side of the deck and see which one gives you the most room to walk around from side to side.

Agree about the 18 ft model.
Not sure fair comparison really.

Bass Cat for sure I wouldn't trade my old Skeeter even up for a new or old Triton.

Look at the Pantera or a P2 they are a little more $$$ but nice rides. I don't know what your budget is but a lot of used cats for sale on www.basscat.com
