I have been wanting to upgrade for awhile now from a mark 5. The 7 is on sale for 499 with rebate. Is there something I'm missing? How much more money toget a 7 functioning in my boat? External puck, card etc.

No more money, just install and go. Now you could buy a map card if you want but you dont have to have it.

Lowrance Elite-7x HDI Is just a fishfinder and down imaging.
Lowrance Elite-7 HDI Is a fishfinder, down imaging plus the GPS. the gps is internal no puck needed.
