Is there any Academy out there that actually wants to sell their Electronics? For months now I have visited 3-4 different stores and NEVER have they had working display models. They have the glass case shaded so you can't see the product or price point for the models that aren't on display. Who PLANOGRAMS for these stores?

I had a little academy rant going in the OT last week. Seems like most stores are just stocking less fishing stuff lately. I'm buying more and more from BPS lately.

Their electronics section in Tyler is an absolute joke.

Go to gander. Since they've remodeled they've also brought prices down to sanity levels and have a much better selection.

I buy my electronics online though, no one local can touch BOE/BBG.

Consider it a blessing, as I doubt anyone in their fishing/marine dept. would even be able to help you with the stuff anyway!

This is the absolute BEST way to buy electronics....

Go to Bass Pro or another store that stocks whatever products you are interested in. Learn all you can about them and make your decision on which model you want. Then shop on eBay. You have to be patient sometimes to find the best deal, but you will save money doing it this way. One thing is you more than likely will be buying from out of state, so you won't be paying sales tax, but just overall the prices will be less expensive on there.

Here is the HDS12 Touch I bought at the end of last year. It was brand new in the box.

I use to work there and I bet I could show you how hook and set anything up you buy, youd be suprised a few guys know how at some stores..... but for the most part yes they are a bunch of retards that work the gun bar and dont know jack squat about it. Just about any retail store they are hired and not trained on what to do or how to work anything, being a fisherman and having lowrance units I always tried to help people out.
