Sandies are starting to stack up on the main lake. Found em yesterday near creek channels with bait nearby. There are still some seagulls on the lake so I expect any day now we will have some schooling fish and the birds will help show ya the way. Otherwise try the creek channels, humps and other obvious structure. Dont over look open water either, keep an eye on the depth finder. Nothing to brag about on size most of the fish are around 10" either way but still a blast to catch. Couple of graph pics of sandies stacked up and feeding.

Not scientific proof but my theory is Lack of bait fish. When we have a few years in a row with good populations of baitfish the size of the sandies goes up. This year I would say our baitfish population is a bout a 3-4 on a scale of 1-10. Out of the 20 sandies I cleaned yesterday only one had shad in its stomach. Not saying there arent some bigguns out there but average size is around 10"

JP Guide, I noticed that the sandbass in your pics were about the same size I have caught in the past. I wondered why most of my fish were small. Thank you for report and sharing your knowledge.

I've emailed with a TPWD biologist before and he said they're so small there is because the chlorophyll A levels are low which leads to poor food for plankton, poor food source for shad, and up the food chain. JP just cant keep a good shad population compared to other area lakes.
