I know they are made in China not Sweden. Anybody have experience with them yet? I was thinking about getting a couple, but I don't want to get them if they are like the BCX.
Thanks, Olen

They are just as crappy as the BCX in my opinion. I had multiple issues with mine straight out of the box. Returned it within a week.

The good part about the others you mention is you just throw em away after some small amount of use, because no parts are available. Not that they was worth fixing anyhow.

An occasional worm gear and greasing the drag washers is all they have ever needed.

I had an issue with my abu record reel the first time I used it. Did some research, apparently there were a lot of them that didn't work right new and the fix for it was simply to clean the grease out and put new grease in. Works like a dream now. Maybe he had a few of those and just didn't pursue fixing them.

All of mine are Abu Garcia, never had a problem. Some 10 years old, some 2 years old. Back in the day they were all metal, now the $59 are not, have to buy the $99+. Bait casters anyway. If I were going to buy somthing equivalent to the Abu SilverMax I may consider somthing else.

Just make sure it's made in Sweden and you won't have a problem.

I have a couple 6500C3's that I love. Like I said on te surface the 6500S look exactly the same but they are made in China, not Sweden. That is why I was weary.
Thanks, Olen

I've had 3 Abu rods all broke within 6monrhs and 2 5500's that broke within 3 months so yeah I will never purchase another Abu product. Kinda funny my bps and H2o's I've put through the same abuse and they are still working just as the day I bought them.
