Hello all-

New to the forum and am hoping for some help. I will be in Galveston this next weekend and am looking for a hot spot to fish the surf. I know the hot spots change regularly but I'm sure there are a few popular places out there as well. I know nothing about Galveston and have never fished out there.

Anybody have any suggestions on where to try?

Thanks all!

Kchaseon

I usually have pretty good success at the very end of the seawall where it turns into rock groins towards the Jamaica beach area.

It depends on what you're wanting to catch, 61st street pier has been producing huge numbers of whiting on shrimp, they've also been catching some shark off the pier kayaking baits off of it

My family and I will be down there next weekend also. I had some awesome luck a few years back but have been skunked the last 3 times I've been down there. I've tried fishing with whole mullet, cut mullet, piggy perch, shrimp and some lures. Just haven't been able to get on them. I'm debating if I want to take my kayaks down there to get off the shore a little but I guess I'll wait till I see the wind forecast before I make that decision. Pm me if you want to try to fish one morning. I'll also let you know if I find the fish if you'll do the same.

try the major piers, if you have the proper equipment to cast in the surf go for it but i just find everything more convenient off a pier,

Welcome to the forum, you might want to head to San Luis pass, I think you can access, the surf, the pass, and the bay right there if I remember correctly.
