whats the biggest catfish yall have caught on 25lb test and what brand was it?

Caught a 60 lb flathead on 20lb mono with 30lb leader.

My son caught a 50# blue at spring break.

Had a buddy put a 57lb'er on my boat last year using 14lb test with a 30lb flouro leader. We put a 50ish fish on the boat two weeks ago using 12lb w/a 30lb leader. We regularly use 20lb mono with the 30lb leader, and have boated fish up to 70lbs with regularity. Haven't had a break-off in a couple years with that combo.

The trick is drag setting, and not putting too much pressure on them.

Funny though, I tried some braid last year, and had the same class fish snapping 50lb braid often. Went back to something with some stretch and no more break-offs. And for much less $$$$ to spool a reel.

57 lb flathead on 6 pound Trilene, 10 feet crappie pole, 1/16 ounce crappie jig, certified at a Sam Rayburn marina a few years back. My father n law caught it out of my boat, took a while to get him in the boat with no net.
I caught 4 over 40lbs last month on 20lb big game mono, biggest was 51lbs.

In the past month we have boated five over 30 and one over 40 with 25lb angler offshore in hi vis yellow, I really like that line.

Caught a bunch of 30 and 40 lbers on 25 lb. premium salt water ande. Even after switching to braid I still use 40 to 80 lb. premium salt water ande for leaders.

Caught a 51 pound app on 6lb three years ago while crappie fishing what a blast .

+1 The mono stretch has saved me in several stump snagged situations where I think braid has just dug into the tree and the fish just snapped it off. Also don't like that there is no stretch with braided line on hard hooksets or reeling down on a big fish which results on ripping the hook out of fish's mouth if the hook doesn't hit a "sure thing" .
In the Winter, fishing open deep water from the bank, I'll give braid a little credit for it's castability but then again I'm not casting 20-25lb mono. Use 30lb Big game or Ande mono mainline with a little heavier weight (5-8oz) to get it deeper. Do believe the 20-25lb test will do the work but prefer the 30lb mono for the "just in case" scenario

had a 86 and 84 on 25lb this past winter...and a 87.5 on 30lb. Back in October we had a 81 on 25lb test too.
