I have some ground beef that expired, and I wondered if it could have a purpose for catching catfish. I thought maybe some pantyhose to keep it on the hook? Has anyone ever experimented with ground beef?

IF you were gonna try that , I would certainly take alternative baits .That being said , give it a try and see if it works .Ya just never know.

how much beef you got? lets say its one pound. Break it up into quarters and use just ground beef. Then try adding ingredients like garlic to add additional stink and texture. OR melt some cheese and mix with ground beef. Experiment with it and post results I would be interested in knowing if they bit .

Never heard of that. We have caught on some "off-the -wall" stuff. Back in the day. Onions, cantelopes , cheetoes. I would try it. Just to find out. Might smell of your fishing area. Let us know.

People use chicken breast and have good luck with it so why not? And maybe use flour or cornmeal to make it doughy so you don't have to mess with the pantyhose.

We used to make dip bait with hammburger meat. Mix well one pound hamburger, one pound limburger cheese and a handfull or two of minnows or baitfish. Put it in a large jar with lid, a pickle jar works good. Set outdoors in sunny area for several weeks, stirring about once a week until minnows have decomposed. Fish with sponge on treble hook. It smells pretty bad but worked good for stocked channel cats.
