I took my daughter to RAy Roberts last Saturday and she had a blast. She catches her first Bass ever weighing 10.0 lbs.

Funny story behind it. She had been fishing a topwater frog all day and she had a line issue and I ended up re-spooling her reel for her. I had been trying to get her to take my spinner bait that I was using since I had been having a good amount of luck with it. I told her that I would give it to her if she wanted it, she said stubbornly, "I want to tie back on my frog dad." So she went ahead and tied the frog back on. I guess it so happened that when she tied the frog on, the knot wasn't as secure as it needed to be. On her first cast the knot came undone and she lost the frog and boy let me tell you, she was upset. Never the less, we searched up and down the bank looking for that frog and never found it. I told her that now would be a god time to tie the spinner bait on. I could tell that she was upset that she lost her bait so I went ahead and tied it on for her. For a few minutes she just pouted a bit over the loss of that frog. I tried to tell her that things like that happen and not to let it get her down. After a brief time she got over it and began to fish with the spinner bait that I had gave her. On her first cast she had a little backlash and I helped her with that. Once I got her back up and ready to fish I went back to the front of the boat. All of a sudden I here her say "dad I GOT ONE!" I turned around to see her pole practically bent in two. I rushed to the back of the boat and all of a sudden I see exactly what she had on the other end and let me tell you, my jaw dropped to the deck of the boat. I grabbed up the net and told her to keep a bind on her. after what seemed like an eternity she managed to get the ol'girl up to the boat and I netted the toad. I grabbed the scale and she weighed right at 10 lbs. We were both giving High Fives and jumping up and down with excitement. Anyway here is the picture of her fish.

Oh, she never would let me have that spinner bait back! LOL I don't know who was more thrilled, me or her. I had Fish & Scales in Waco Tx do a replica for her first mount.

When we got home I built a several more spinner baits like the one that I gave her and I went back down on Monday by myself. That afternoon I picked up a 8.5 and an 11.4 out of the same hole on that color of spinner. My daughter mentioned that we should have all three put into a mount scene together. So, when Fish & Scales get done with the replicas, I'll post a pic.

Congrats to the both of you! But I hate to tell you if you sent the fish to Fish Scale Taxidermy there is a pretty good chance you will not recive your fish. I have been waiting 3 years for a fish and asked for a refund 8-9 months ago and still have not recived it and they don't hardly ever return calls or texts. I hope you have better luck than I did with them but you can ask around on this forum there have been several people burned by them.
