Now that's what I am talking about !!!
We don't want our lakes over populated to the point that the fish's growth opportunities are reduced.
Catch & Release is great for the Catch n Eat fishermen.
So y'all make sure you release the fish properly, be careful how you handle them,,, you know, with as much non-tension as possible so we don't get red streaks in those filets.

You would be surprised at how little pressure you actually have on them setting the hook. WAY WAY less than you thnik.

About 3 lbs. And as for the argument of what's going on with the fish while it is immersed in water and the pressure exerted on it, where is Archimedes when we need him?

I will revive them when needed and even put them in the live well with some please release me till they are good to go.

You ever seen em on a dragonfly bite? They catch some air for sure. Bottom line is you can hurt/stress the big girls a LOT easier than the smaller ones. You typical 2-4 pounder is pretty dang tough...

I've never read or researched the pain fish are in when caught. But I'd think the thin skin on the sides of the mouth don't hurt but the roof and lower jaw hook sets hurt. I have noticed when I fish a wacky rig they go crazy due to being hooked in the roof, when I catch them on say a crankbait I normally get them in the side and they don't go crazy nearly as much. Just a thought

I found this while researching (see below), there also seems to be other studies that challenge these findings. Not sure who to believe.

Do fish feel pain? Not as humans do, study suggests
Date: August 8, 2013
Source: Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB)
Summary: Fish do not feel pain the way humans do, according to a team of neurobiologists, behavioral ecologists and fishery scientists. The researchers conclude that fish do not have the neuro-physiological capacity for a conscious awareness of pain.

I always heard that they didn't feel much pain in their mouths. After all they eat perch and other fish with sharp fins, craw fish too, they probably put up a fight on the way down. I'm probably wrong though. Never researched it, just what I've heard.
