You got his truck and trailer license plate numbers. You could have called police, game warden etc. and given them the story and they could have just gotten him when he exited the lake. It would still be your word against his but after the kids were run over several years ago in Central Texas, they take this stuff seriously.

Everyone should be watching for this guy and call him in every time he is on the water.

Unfortunately there are a few bass fisherman that act this way, and it negatively impacts the way the whole group is viewed by others. As someone that fishes out of a boat and a kayak, I have come to realize that both sides can cause the other to be frustrated in certain situations. However, it just takes a tiny bit of respect to avoid conflict, and it is sad when people are unable to give a little. Kayak fishing is awesome, and guys in boats just have to learn to give a little room. I don't love the cyclists on the street, but I slow down, change lanes, and stay clear of them. I bet this guy just tries to run them over. I have a feeling he lives his life this way, and if you got to know him, you would see that he treats everyone the way he treated you.

Every close call should be a learning experience for all. I have no doubt the boat guy was in the wrong flying by so close to you, but how were you not prepared for it's wake when you first heard it approaching?

For kayakers:

1. Never assume someone sees you.
2. Be prepared to paddle at first sign of approaching power boat.
3. Never let a wake hit you on beam.
4. A quick lift/signal of paddle lets boater know you are concerned.
5. Get comfortable with big boat wakes, you should never fear them.
6. Always keep your paddle handy.

For boaters: Maybe just hold up your hand as you make a slight course correction away from kayaker to let him know you see him and continue on plane. I don't expect folks to slow down and come off plane just because I'm in a kayak if they wouldn't have to if I were in a boat. Anyone in a kayak that worries about a wake made by any boat should practice more in rougher conditions.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Why do these DB's think they deserve anything because the boat they purchased? Only a total female would think that the lake is his because he owns a bass boat. A phone or camera is good to get his numbers, but nothing really comes of it. People like this need permanent neurological, or physiological damage to set them right. I'm tired of being the nice guy, when it comes to kayaking. I don't know if they're yuppies, or rednecks or both, but such prima-donna's they are. The things that could be done to guys like this. They just don't know. This one's a little fat boy too.

like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

Funny how having every electronic device and a dance floor to fish from makes you a real fisherman!
I own a bass boat and a yak and a motorcycle. I really don't care what anyone does as long as it doesn't effect me or my kids.
But that is why I carry a firearm 24/7. Lake, bar, restaurant , everywhere. I don't want to show up in hell saying, "Damn wish, I would have been carrying"

This and well said.

But without a doubt the guy is a DB and has issues - someone will eventually give him a free attitude adjustment.

Imagine that. This gets posted in the bass fishing section and it doesn't take long before someone all but calls him a liar.

Believe me I am. I wish I would have got his tag# on the boat.
I guess I have to invest in a go pro to have video next time.

This. I've had a similar encounter before. Had a guy tell me "if you get in my way again, I'll run you over." I was pointing my GoPro at him the whole time and replied "Smile _________, you're on camera!" When he realized I was recording it he dropped his rod and sped off. Also at the CCKF tourney on Grapevine I had a boat fly out of a marina about 20 feet behind me going at least 40mph and he actually cut the line I was trolling with his engine. My rod doubled over and I thought it was going to break. I just don't get people like that man.
