I wanted to let everyone know what happened to me today and keep everyone aware of dangerous fools. I decided to take off work early today and cruise down to Lake Arlington and scout out some brush piles for crappie. I was on the north east side of the island peddling to the next stop and then I heard it. A bass boat (a white triton with black & yellow stripes) pretty much WOT. He passed me within about 25 ft and hit me with a 2 foot roller from the side. I almost turtled because of him. I threw my hands in the air and yelled WTH? He responded by flipping me the bird.

He stopped at the docks about 50 yards away to fish so I decided to go get his tag # and give him a piece of my mind. By the time I reached him I had calmed down, got close enough to speak nice and asked him why he waked me. He said I should shut up because I was stupid to be out in the wind with a kayak.

He knew I was looking for his tag # so he kept trolling away every time I started to get close enough to read it. While all of this was going on he was cursing me and stating that kayaks don't deserve to be on public lakes. I was just about to get his tag & he made some pretty disturbing physical threats if I got any closer. So, I took the best picture possible and started on my way. As I was peddling away he kept the threats up about running over all kayaks because they get in real fishermen's way.

All Yakkers beware, these people have some serious issues. I didn't think I'd run into turd nuggets today being early Wednesday afternoon. I guess I was wrong.

This is the guy, sorry it's not a better pic.

It is a white Triton with a Mercury 250 on it. He pulls it with a red Nissan Titan. I have the plate #'s on the trailer & truck.

Sorry it's a long winded post. I just think the more info people have about the Egotistical Neanderthals that threaten our sport the better.

I fish at LA all the time and have never had a problem. I will keep an eye out for this guy.

Did you let the people at the office know?

You should post this in the Bass Fishing Section. This guy is not representative of Bass Fishermen, but your post is a reminder of how important it is to be respectful to all people on the water no matter how they are fishing. As a bass fisherman that does not fish out of a kayak, I am sorry you had such an unpleasant encounter.

Report this to the lake office and make sure it gets to the local game warden.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Believe me I am. I wish I would have got his tag# on the boat.
I guess I have to invest in a go pro to have video next time.

Glad you're safe. Definitely report him. That is way beyond being a jerk. Hopefully God takes him off this earth sooner rather than later.

I think the thing that got me was that he was blaming me for being in a yak in the wind. That made no sense whatsoever. The threats were just hot air.

Man, I hate that you had to put up with that. Glad you ended up safe. At one time I fished arlington quite a bit from my boat, but I don't recognize the one in your pic. Maybe he will run into the right guy at the right time to deal with him. I can't imagine such a thing.

Sorry you had a bad run in. I haven't had a bad expierence with boaters but have heard of a few. This idiot will get his and certainly is just a bad apple in a group of good fisherman.
