Caught 7 sandbass, took home 6. I threw back a 10 incher because that's not worth the trouble to me. Got them all on a silver shiner Blue Fox Vibrax. Caught 3 little yellow bass, which I tossed back too.

No hybrids...but you know about the one that got away? Had what felt like a pretty hefty fish. Spit the hook about 30 seconds into the fight. Oh well.

Not too many people at all. Walked down on the west side 30+ minutes. People are catching fish well before that point though. It's a harder longer walk on the west side, as opposed to the nature trail to the east, but I think there are better places to stand and fish from. Plus, the sun's not in your eyes in the afternoon and the evening.

Fished with Fishrfoods today and caught a 25" hybrid with a live minnow that he gave. Thank you Fishrfoods. Also, caught 3 catfish with dead minnows and 5 sand bass with silver blue fox. It was a good day for me. bannana2

Wind from the north, fisherman does not go forth.
Wind from the south, blows the bait in the fish's mouth.
Wind from the east, the fish bite least.
Wind from the west, the fish bite best.

Headed to the gun range by sunrise tomorrow morning. It's been 5 years since I fished the run, I hope there's still some fish left. @Tarponfly - same tactics still working from the last time we fished? smile

I'm pretty sure no fish have made that far down the creek this year. Creek has been really low and most of the fish are being caught between the mouth of Hubbard and the bridge at 66. The water is shallow even along that stretch.

That's sad to hear - I drove by to take a peak and its low but still at least 4 feet of water. Guess it's time to make the trek down the preserve.

Fished from 7am to 12pm today. Started at 66 and worked my way almost to miller hitting every accessible piece of structure along the way. Caught fish just not any sandys, only drum and cats.. Air pressure was rising from way past 30 when I checked in the morning so maybe that explains the sandys. Used minnows on a bobber or sunk to the bottom.

I was out from 9-1pm and met 9point and we did pretty good in total 12, 1 flat, 1 drum and rest were sandbass. I also hooked up on a hybrid that end up cutting my line going under a tree branch. But there in three and we seen guys coming back with hybrids.

Fished downstream well past Miller - got 1 sandbass, several yellows and that was it after 9am....Looks like the only sandbass left are the male stragglers, until next year!

Howdy again Cowboy. Walked most of the west side bike trail all up and down the creek and was pretty impressed by what I saw. Definitely going to have to get some gear for proper creek fishing now.

Two questions to the old hands. What side of the creek should you walk down from the Miller Rd bridge (West,East)?
Also, what would be the best place to launch a small/inflatable kayak from? Firewheel Pkwy bridge and miller rd seem to be the 2 best options, at least when the creek actually has water to float in smile
