I was fishing the Elm Fork yesterday (blanked!) and took a drive out to see the creeks at Lewisville. Caught a few, did some hiking. I thought we were in post spawn but 2 anglers told me the main spawn hasn't even started yet and that it was primarily males in the creek. Thoughts? Thx.

We have just been catching males for the last three weeks. I have not opened up a fish with eggs yet so I hope the spawn is not over.

Thanks, so do you think we need some more rain to kick things into proper gear?

I caught females 3 weeks ago and watched active spawning. I don't know enough to speculate whether rain would restart anything, but I was guessing that the spawn was on the downswing...at least on the LL creeks.

The males stay late after the females. I think the females are done, the females came up and left really quickly this year. The females I've caught have been empty. I hope I'm wrong but I think we are catching males at the tail end of the run.

I believe it is pretty much over. We caught over 200 on the main lake yesterday. They looked pretty beat up from the spawn. I imagine a few are still in the creeks though.

Caught about 10 small to mid-sized Lewisville whites in a creek this morning. Definately had the "look and feel" of the end of the run. Time to hit the lake shoreline for largemouth.
