Where does one get info on who and what the current monthly photo is? What kind of fish is that? And where was it caught?

I think a lot of people miss the photo by going to http://www.texasfishingforum.com/.ubb/ultimatebb.php instead of http://www.texasfishingforum.com. The first bypasses the photo directly to the forum, which is faster than it loading the pic, then clicking it to get to the same place.

I thought it might be a peacock, but it's not one of the more colorful ones. I was thinking of going to Brazil next Dec to fish for some of those, but decided to save up and put the $5000 toward a new boat.

Just go to Florida if you don't wanna spend that much cash to catch a peacock. They've had them there for a few years now.

The red eyes and spot on the tail gave it away for me. thumb

The peacocks in the canals of FLA do not get as big as the ones down in South America, or so I was told. Heck they even have peacocks and trophy LMB in the lake at Miami-Homestead Speedway!

JazzHarmonicat,
As noted previously, it is a peacock bass caught in Brazil (Rio Negro tributary of the Amazon). txbass1820 is correct about the larger peacock being from South America with the world record at 27 pounds (Speckled). Fishing was tough this time (Jan) due to high water. I have some friends that caught a lot more on previous trips including 4 over 20 in one week. It is espensive but if you do your research, you can do a week trip for about $3000.
