Is there a better knot to tie jigs on with and is there a better position to keep them at on the line. I've been focusing bridges lately and am trying to improve my odds.
Thanks for any info

Palomar knot is the strongest - click on below link for knots http://www.custom-crappie-jigs.com/knots.html

You want your jig to lay horizontal... Polomar or the good ol improved clinch knot
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I prefer placing the knot on the backside of the hook eye. That will also hold it horizontal and when it slips, it'll slip to the very top of the hook eye and that's still good. The only time it goes to the front of the hook eye is after you've taken the fish off. Then just slide it back to the rear position before the next drop.

X3 Also if your fishing bridges, use a tandem rig to increase your odds and be able to use 2 different baits to see what they prefer at that moment

I use Palomar... but when I get frustrated because just cant seem to get it in the hole again, I switch to the Improved Cinch...
