I'm wanting to take my girlfriend out to Alan Henry on Good Friday this week, and fish from the crappie house. Anyone have an idea on what jigs they are biting on? Or if they are biting at all? Also, is it safe to eat the crappie out of Alan Henry?

If the crappie aren't biting is anything else?

I'm guessing either no one has been out, or the fishing is not to great. I'll give a report when I get back this weekend

I wish I could help you with some advise on Alan Henry. I've been there once on a recon drive by. I have to say that crappie are crappie and they will bite jigs if they are there. Take an assortment of colors and have a good trip!!!

By Friday it will be 3 weeks since I was at the crappie house, so I don't know how much use this will be. The crappie were biting about 3' off the bottom or about 15'from the surface. Nothing in between those depths. All the keepers I got were about 15' down. We fished minnows. Got a couple of good sized bass also. Maybe that will be a little help.

In years past, I have had good success on silver flake & pink tube jigs this time of year.

Thank you! I'm hoping to catch a few, are you able to eat the crappie there?

Lubbock is pumping a lot of water from there which might make it easier to fish. There is a fish consumption advisory for it but I believe it is for catfish.

Thanks guys! I just wanted to make sure that if we do end up catching fish, we won't keep and eat them! Hopefully I can get a few

Fishing this past weekend at crappie house was decent. Lots of dinks on minnows with a few keepers. I wouldn't be concerned about eating fish from there. You're not gonna eat massive amounts, nor are you gonna do it on a regular basis.

I thought I might make it to the crappie house this afternoon, but a broken filling in a molar has changed my priorities.

Maybe next week...
