No not in Texas, but depending on the rate and coverage it can definitely come in handy.

It is a really really good idea to be covered. If you cause damage to someone else's boat or cause a injury to someone. The cost of the insurance is cheaper than the lawsuit that follows. Cause I guarantee a lawsuit will follow!
