I always fish for cats on that lake but would love to catch some reds. I have boat and am willing to take you out to show me the ropes. I live about an hour away. Drop me a line at josephmcgurr@yahoo.com. That or give me some pointers if you would.
Thanks, Joey.

What do you consider heavy line, we catch them on 20lb berkly and ande mono all the time, and very rarely loose one(I cant remember loosing one in the last 2years), and if we do, the hook coming out is usualy the culprit.

Also I am sure you have heard it before, and you will hear it again, but the fish in that lake are loaded with mercury, and we catch some weird lookin reds and catfish out there. I know this is going to get shot down by so many, but I wouldnt eat anything out of that lake. And if you think that they monitor it and will shut it down when it get too high, you are wrong, they do monitor it, but if they shut it down, then they dont make any more money, so they just arent going to tell you when it gets too high.

Redchevy I haved used heavy line and dont get near the amount of hits.. It either slows the shad or tialpia down and looks odd to the fish or they see the line. All I know was using 14lbs and those 2 rods wouldnt get touched. I switched to 8-10lbs on lighter poles and tore them up.

Initially, I was really freaked out at how green your grass was in this pic because I thought ya'll were local (posting about catching at Calaveras), then I had noticed ya'll were from Round Rock. As jealous as I am about those nice looking reds, I think I'm even a bit more jealous about the color of your grass. Nice catch! Steven

LOL... Redfish, you got it down!!!! Tilapia are key!! I have done OK with shad on Calaveras but Tilapia work like a champ. I havent been out in about two years or so, are there still quite a few guys walking down the wall snagging the GIANT tilapia? Awesome catch! I hope I can make it down a time or two within the next year, I will try my best. If I do, I will be sure to hit you up. Were these fish caught on the crappie wall? The crappie wall has always been where I have had my best luck, especially when able to fish the shorelines. When I was young I use to fish the crappie wall every weekend!!! AWESOME and keep up the good work.
