I noticed that Academy has Tournament Choice® 16-1/2" Minnow Traps for only 4.99. I wonder if they would work for piggy perch baited with canned dog food & left over night at a private pier in Rockport. Small live piggy perch are hard to beat for big trout. Anyone tried it ??

To small. Invest in a bigger perch trap and use sardines, frozen whole not the canned ones.

We caught more bait than we could use. We had some old stinky mullet heads and guts from a few Reds we had caught. Put them in a fish trap and within a few hours we had live bait. This was at Palm Harbor.

tie a few mullet heads to a rock and wait about 10 minutes. Then throw a cast net over it. Easy way to fill a bucket.

I've used everything from stale bread, old hotdogs to cleaned fish. Those Lil buggers will eat anything.

If piggy perch got any bigger, it wouldn't be safe to wade fish..

i just bought 1, the hole of the entrance is probably only big enough to fit your thumber through it. your not gonna catch usable quality bait with the trap. even if you did make the whole bigger , you are onlygonna catch probably 10 at the max, cus the room in thre trap doesnt allow many fish to come in. with that ebing said , iwould probably buy this http://www.ebay.com/itm/301142125644?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 i have 3 of them and though there not the highest quality trap, there 1. cheap as dirt 2. have the proper opening 3. have decent amount of space 4. have a bait holding compartment that allows less of it to get eating, thus sits out longer 5. ITS COLLAPSIBLE, convenient only real down side is that it comes from china, takes forever to ship it, 1 bought 3 free shipping for like 7 bucks
