That's the last porcupine the pit bull will mess with.

i have seen this happen to bird dogs as well out in west texas and it takes a long time to get them all out each one has to be cut on the end to release the water in the quill then it is pulled..and yes i know the dog is pissed now i would be too...

That's got to be one determined dog or one locked up that couldn't escape fast enough. My boxer hits a cactus and runs. I just couldn't imagine a dog that would intentionaly take that kind of beating and keep coming back if it had any where to go. The lions and leopards they show in Africa on Discovery Channel aren't that dumb even in the middle of a drought.

Pit bulls will keep going once the bloodlust is on em. They were bred for it. Mine keeps attacking my little beagle and has almost killed it twice. Though it will play nice with my kids and the male beagle all day as well as our cat. Its just the little female that gets her worked up. My wife had to hit her with a big piece of wood last time. Funny that she never even hints at turning on a person (even when hit in the head with a board), family or otherwise. Pits can be stupid that way sometimes. We're trying real hard not to have to get rid of my pit but we'll see.

I looked at the pic again, I thought it was a pit but I believe that is a bull terrier, still a very tenacious breed.
