I think I hate it .......... I prefer the single bait approach myself but if you are not learning it you may get beat.

Thoughts?

If you don't throw it there is a very good chance you'll get beat by it.

Last Nov and I sought some advice of some very knowledgeable individuals that are very good with it. I then decided to commit some time and figure it out, and since I have caught probably 25 fish over 5 lbs and the largest was just over 9. I have caught fish on 6 different lakes in all kinds of depths and off different types of structure.

All that being said, I would not mind if it went away!

The market created it. Everyone wants bigger everything. 21 foot boats that need 36 volt trolling motors. 250 horsepower. Giant sonars screens that can cover 500 feet at once. Power poles getting longer. The same people that are angry about it, have everything else that I mentioned.

I wanted to fish it but was not willing to drive that far.

I know lots of people have been throwing it at Fork the last 2 weeks. Seems every point has someone slinging it.

From what I gather it doesn't take much skill so if you get around the fish have a rabbits foot or a four leaf clover in your pocket and bam you catch a few monsters.

I threw one for about an hour Monday and was worn out. I did catch a 4lb. bass on my fourth cast and started wondering why I hadn't thrown one before. My hats off to the guys that are stout enough to throw them all day long.

Fished a tourney a couple weeks back 30 out of 42 boats threw it all day. We got 3rd and 1st through 4th were 25 lbs to 17 lbs. The other 26 boats did not have much, so I would say you are completely wrong.

There is something to it and if you figure that out you can be successful with it, if not you'll continue to say there isn't any skill involved.

Opinions are like ......well you know the sayin.

I'm sticking with the rabbits foot theory , your home lake where the two tens were in one bag is a perfect example.

I kinda think the thing is in it's infancy. Maybe some clear fiber arms instead of those wires, lighter weight, and less snag prone. However, I'm sure the concept of a "schoolie rig" is here to stay.

It flat out catches fish and is the best cold water lure and technique on the market.

There are those throwing it and having some blind success on occasion then there's those with no success at all with it. There's also those that are catching large stringers on a regular basis during the winter and early spring prespawn. Those with the consistent success are those that have figured it out and know how to use it effectively. Like so many other techniques it can be great but you have to know how to use it. There's tricks to most techniques with jerkbaits its learning the cadence to the jerks, pauses and so forth, with crankbaits its cranking speed and placement and you have to learn it each time you fish to dail into what they want that day.
