I recently got a baitcast and am using it on a black heavy action ugly stik rod ive had for spinning reel. Are there any huge ramifications in doing this or is it just some minor cast distance loss? Ive heard that rods are only designed to bend in one direction so im just asking for yalls opinions on the matter and for relatively inexpensive casting rod to pair with my recently acquired c3. I dont want to drop more than 50 on a rod right now so thats more or less my price range.

Do you ever go to San Antonio or Austin? There's a pro angler rep in either city. $42 will get all the rod you'll need.

I actually live smack dab between the two, any experience with their 10f casting rod? I cant seem to find any recommended line specs. Im hoping that if a new rod is necessary i can use the setup for surf fishing when i move to the coast and kill 2 birds with 1 stone

it's fine, the longer handle may even give you more distance using two hands..

As far as the whole casting on spinning goes you will be perfectly fine, I got a abu 6000 on a 8ft spinning ugly stick and I can cast as far with that than I can the pro anglers, so as far as the problem goes your golden, but as far as my advice definitely get the 10ft PA, it's about the same price as any competing rods if not cheaper and twice the rod as any of them. As far as using the combo for saltwater I use 3 of my 6500/PA combos down here in galveston almost every day and the reel is very sturdy and holds up against the salt well and the PA is perfect for black/red drum even smaller shark, I've caught countless reds/blacks this year on the combos and I love em

There really isn't any reason for it to affect performance of bait caster. The first eyes on spinning rod are bigger and on taller pedestal so that line friction is reduced at spool. A spinning reels performance would be effected on bait caster rod .

The spine on the rod woud be backwards, but you might or might not notice that. Aside from that, it would work.

For a decent rod under $50, go to academy or walmart and pick up a Berkley Lightning Rod. Good rods for $35-40.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

I have 5 berkly big game rods. 20 bucks each. They are awesome for cats. I use the 7ft med heavy. Im not fond of the 8ft ones, they don't feel like a cat rod to me. My oldest one is 10 years old. Sometime Walmart will close them out in off season. They will be real cheap before Christmas.

I'm very familiar with the 10' rods. I spend a lot of vacation time at the beach every summer.

I cant help with the baitcaster on spinning reel question, but I can vouch for the 10 foot Pro Anglerrod / 6500c3 combination. I just got two of them in December and have landed a number of black drum to 40 lbs with them. Excellent casting in the surf using 4-5 oz weight. Also, they are sensitive enough you can still enjoy the fight of a 6-8 pound fish, which was my most recent catfishing trip. Good luck to you, whatever you decide.

Bait cast rods typically have more guides than spinning rods of the same length. This keeps the line from dropping below the rod while fighting a big fish. If the line drops below the rod, it can put unnecessary stress on the line in that spot. If that happens the line breaks a lot of the time. I would try to find an inexpensive bait cast rod if at all possible. No need to lose a fish of a lifetime if you can help it.

The rod guides. On a Baitcasting rod, the guides are on top, and on a spincasting rod, the guides are underneath.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting on the water looking like a darn fool.

That's not a spine.
