The canals have been fishing great these past 3 weeks. I caught 3 today during my lunch break, that included a 5 and a 3 lber. The carp spawn was very heavy last week but only saw two today compared to 30+ each day last week. Two weeks ago, had one day where all four bass together were 12+lbs, biggest was a 4lber. Last spring wasn't this good for me, caught the numbers but not the size that I've caught lately, so I've been stoked.

I am hammering them doing the "deep night" thing. Hooked two the other night I could not turn at all, they just hammered and bolted. HUGE MOMMAS! Way bigger than the 3-6 lb'ers I been catching on a regular basis, nearly nightly, for the last 2-3 wks. Just wish I could find those 15-16 inch crappie I am so used to catching this time of yr out there late at night.

I need to try fishing the canals at night. I went back out at 5 on my way home and caught four in about 30 min on a bluegill swimjig. I've caught 1 crappie over the past few weeks, usually I catch a few more than that by now. Never seen any 15-16" ones, didn't know they get that big in the canals. Do you eat crappies out of the canals?

gonna hit em tonight. Bass, crappie, channels, don't matter to me. they all hit my 1/32 nd. oz. jigs, with the UNPAINTED jig heads.

Life is good

Jefferson park is where I fish. It's on MacArthur and Meadowbrook. It is a public park and I mostly catch small fish. This spring has been awesome so far. There is an occasional snake along the shore so keep your eyes open.

Only managed one 5 lb bass and one 12 inch crappie last night. Only fished for 30 minutes, between 10:30-11:00 PM. At least the crappie are starting to show up a bit. good ones too

Went out there after work yesterday and managed 4 bass between 10 to 12in... 1 on a Rat L Trap and the rest on Mr Crappie Jigs... I seen some nice chuncks in there a couple of weeks ago and caught a few also. Think Im hitting it up again tomorrow morning.

I live around here and have fishing a drainage above the canals, but never the actual canals. Always thought it looked like fun.

Tried Jefferson once, but got skunked.
