I haven't done much fishing in the past 20 years, but I used to fish every weekend mostly for bass and crappie. Now that my daughter has brought up the topic, fishing is all I can think about. I picked up some cheap Stren mono 10 pound line at Bass Pro and I am wondering if this will fit the bill for bass and crappie again. When I was fishing every weekend before, I used Berkley Trilene all the time. I bought the Stren because it was 6 bucks for 660 yards. Probably one of those get what you pay for situations, but I thought that I would ask before I lose all of my lures.

I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Well as long as you aren't going to be fishing heavy are going to be alright, but if you are going to be fishing around logs, rocks, or grass, you might want a bit stronger line
I've been a trucker for yrs so haven't been able to fish as much as i'd like , but i'm trying to learn. My son goes with me , so that is cool,he is trying to learn also, we both want to become better fisherman.

When I was a freshwater fisherman and guide clear blue fluorescent Stren was my line of choice. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I use a mix right now of Stren, P-line, and suffix. (I am in the process of experimenting.) Gonna spool on some Berkeley big game to try tomorrow. My experience with Stren is that it's super strong line, and super strong knot strength, better than the other two I mentioned. The set back for me has been it seems to need to be replaced faster than the other lines.

Orginal Stren is a good choice. 14 lb. test works well for a lot of applications for me.
