Wow. I didn't realize you had to have a 12 pack be a fisherman. I guess my fishing education is now complete...

I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.

Have you tried it and don't like it?

My wife doesn't like the idea either, saying she can only handle two rods at a time. So I was thinking about trying it with six rods, two for her and four for me. That way she could fish with one in her hand and one in a fish holder, as she currently fishes.

But I would be interested in knowing if you had tried it and did not like it.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

I personally throw back all females not spawned out then summertime it's game on. Last time I looked the TPWD rules were 100 hooks total for all devices you were fishing with. Spider rigging with 8 poles 2 hooks each is only 16 hooks total.

I've had people from states where you need a license for EACH rod in the water. They really are taken aback by what we can do here.

Colorado. Have to buy your "extra rod stamp" each year.

Fishing was invented so man wouldn't get bored between turkey and dove.

And that is why people who move to this state should not be allowed to vote for ten years.

so what you are saying is that you can't catch a limit without multiple rods? Let the people fish dude, I'm pretty sure the people who spider rig could school you any day. Its not as easy as it looks. This thread is pointless spam

I don't think this is a useless thread. It wasn't that long ago Crappie only got hit hard during the spring and then moved to deeper water and brush piles. With the advancement of electronics those fish are now fished hard for 12 months a year . As the Texas population continues to grow and we get more and better fisherman, with the aid of technology, the population of big crappie is going to take a hit. We aren't there yet, but I see a change in the daily limit and number of rods in the future.

My thoughts exactly. I have been a member here for a while and I see things come and go but this is kinda out there. On a day where the bite is on someone who is spider rigging may get 25 before me but at the end of the day 25 is 25. Im not sure I see your argument other that your feelings are hurt that some people are consistently catching a limit and you are not. I dont spider rig but I also catch my 25 fish more times than not and I only use 1 pole???

If I was wanting any changes in the crappie regs, it would be two limits per boat. No matter how many are in the boat it would be a 50 max limit a day. It should be a lake by lake law also not state wide. I don't spider rig and probably never will, but I am not opposed to those who do. I haven't figured out how to set up all those rod holders on my tube.
