Trot Lines Should Be Illegal. I no longer hunt, so all hunting could also be outlawed.

I haven't tried spider rig fishing but I am thinking about trying it. It looks to be fun, especially on the days when I am not catching anything straight lining over brush piles, at trees or at bridges. I only keep five each trip, if I am lucky enough to catch five keepers.

It's not the keeping that is fun for me, it is the catching and the fight.

I don't see what difference it makes if you catch a limit tight lining with jigs, float fishing with minnows or spider rigging. If you take a limit, you take a limit, regardless of how you catch it.

I don't see why it is necessary to take 25 crappie home every trip, especially if you fish several times a week. So maybe I should lobby for the limit to be lowered to five crappie per trip, since that is what I take home with me when I can. Just kidding, I understand not everybody can fish every day like I normally can.

I would support lake by lake fishing limits, like we have for large mouth bass. Some lakes have more resources than other lakes and can handle greater fishing pressure. Some need more protection to increase the fishing population in that lake.

But I am not one to decide these issues, as I don't have the training nor the experience to make informed decisions about what should be allowed.

The most I have out at a time with planer boards is 6, this is very useful trying different depths and sizes, colors. Do I need 6, no but it is legal in New Mexico if I have a second rod validation and so do the other two fisherman in the boat. The spider rig is not going to work all of the time.

Seems to be a non-issue to me.

Not always. Sometimes people only get to fish once a week or even once a month. So they need to keep more fish so they can enjoy them during the month.

Somebody like me that normally fishes several times a week do not need to keep a full limit each trip. My wife and I prefer fresh fish over frozen fish so we only keep what we can eat for one meal from each trip.

For us that is five fish. A larger family would need more than five fish for a meal.

But if you are fishing every day I doubt you need to keep 25 fish every day, even through it is your legal right to do so. Just my opinion, I don't get upset with those who do decide to keep 25 each day, as that is their legal right to do so.

But I don't see that the method of fishing matters, as long as it is legal. Legal limits and other requirements for fishing have been set by those with the education and experience to do so, so I accept them.

What have you done for your Country? My grandfather fought in Korea and my uncles fought in VIETNAM. .. its PRIDE... how does it make u feel to talk to a ex U.S soldier like that? I think its not AMERICAN ...

Start a new thread about it. I am interested, as I have been thinking about trying if myself for the slow days.

I don't want more fish to take home, I simply want more fish to fight, then release. So spider rigging might do that for me on slow days.

I'm not into spider rigging and I really don't care for it. That is personal opinion and I don't expect everyone to feel the same way. Spider rigging is not illegal and at this point I don't think it should be outlawed. If you like spider rigging I say go get them.
