I guess I'm crazy I use 10/0 11/0 12/0 I wanna catch the big boys , but i still catch small ones , they got big mouths
But I use big bait too
For small shad I would use 8/0

Good idea to have several different sizes but if I had to pick 1 hook for a 1 size fits all it would be the TC 8/0.

I've been using 2/0 and catching plenty of fish. But after reading all these posts I think I will try some 8/0 next time out.

If money wasn't an option, I would only use TC 8/0 DA. Hey 7777, if I start putting a logo in my signature, does that qualify me for a discount?

Put a couple of each size hook everyone has suggested out & see which one seems to be working that day in that situation with your particular bait.

I couldn't bring myself to buying the 8/0, lol. I had TC 3/0 already and used those the last couple of years with no issues. I went ahead and bought a few packs of the TC 5/0 circles and will give those a try Friday. Thanks for everyones input.

Use what makes sense for you to use- 3/0 to 5/0 is my choice. Avoid the stainless hooks, I hear stainless steel is bad for the fish.

The size of cats you are targeting, and the size bait you use determines the size of hook you need to use.
I use 2" to 3" cut shad for eaters and 5/0 hooks are my go to size.
8/0 if using live bait.
Believe it or not, you CAN catch trophy size cats on smaller hooks. I can't remember the last time I lost a big fish due to the hook. Most if not all have been because of line breakage.
