Going to be in the Cedar Hill area for a week starting this Saturday. Have a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer them;

1). Is Joe Pool Lake worth fishing? Which ramp?
2). Same as above about Grapevine Lake?
3). Other lake(s) I might try that would be better than those two?
4). Our lakes are almost ice free are yours in spawn stage?

Any other info would be awesome. Wouldn't be opposed to being a back seater and splitting expenses with someone going to Fork during the week. If you're more comfortable texting than posting feel free 574/536-7232.

Thanks in advance!!

I think you started your thread all wrong but I fished joe pool this winter for the first time and it was full of grass. Everywhere I went I was thinking man, I wish it was spring time. I would think it would be popping right now but again I have only been on the lake 1 time and wished it was spring. It also has a river that you can get into that I would think would hold a lot of fish right now.

Hope I didn't offend anyone but how should I have started my thread differently?

No offense taken. Some regular users forget what it is like to be a first time user. I live about 10 min from Joe Pool and it is a very good fishing lake. It is a slot lake so there are plenty 14-21" fish. There are two good ramps. Both are State parks and have a minimal entry fee (launch fee) Very good ramps. There is timber up both arms of the lake and several good side coves and creeks. I like the ramp on the east side of the lake (exit off of Hwy 67 in Cedar Hill) The best thing about Joe Pool is it is only -1.39 ft low at this time. Grapevine is -9.78 ft low. I am not sure if any of the ramps are open on Grapevine. There is usually good grass baits in the east marina area and up some of the arms. Just normal type fishing. Only negative is that both lakes are open and the wind can be a factor. And if you haven't been to this part of Texas the wind only blows most of the time. bolt

Thanks texascajun69, is the lake fairly easy to run? Are there boat lane I need to stay in?

If you've never fished Lake Fork before you might consider make a run over to Fork this weekend and just give fishing off the bank a whirl.

My personal best, which ran a bit over eight lbs. was caught from fishing off the wall at the State Launch Ramp on 154. I caught my PB about this time of year casting a 3/4th ounce Xcaliber One-Knocker Rattle Bait in Royal Red. I was throwing it with an 8 foot Outtasight Falcon LowRider. I had a back-wind and could just about spool my reel on the casts.

Joe Pool is a pretty wide open lake no worries there. Grapevine I think Silver Lake Marina is the only decent ramp open but it is fairly steep. Good luck to you and have a good time in this great State!!!!!! Hubbard and Lewisville if you dont know what your doing can be a lower unit nightmare...

How long are you in town? I live very close to Joe Pool and will be fishing there several times next week after work. I might make a trip to fork next week--not sure.

First things first...are you a Hoosier or a Boilermaker? ...or God-forbid an Irish fan.
