It depends where you'll be dragging. If you're deep in rocks, gravel and shell, I'd go with a 1.5 tungsten, with 20 lb fluro leader. If you're fishing shallower through trees and bushes drop down to maybe .5 weight.

If you are going to use a 20# "leader",,,,why leader at all ?
why wouldn't you just use 20# line, or use 20-30# braid and just peg the weight ?

How about 50lb or 60lb braid with a 17# mono leader and a 1oz tungsten weight with a 10 inch black n blue fleck worm. or put a 7 inch watermelon red fleck Senko on.

The only change I'd make to this is 20# Big Game and if they don't bite the fluke put on a Brush Hog.

Is tungsten an advantage? A lead weight being bigger is probably better for not getting hung up in the rocks. You can make noise with more noisemakers.

A tungsten 1 ounce weight costs 7 bucks. A lead one costs 50 cents. Easy answer to that question for me.

My standard Falcon Rig is 25 flouro with a 20 lb flouro leader with 3/4 oz brass sinker with a brass clacker, glass bead and a 30" leader. You can go tungsten but the areas you'll be dragging a rig are normally really hard bottom and you'll spend a lot of "$7 a pop" on tungsten breaking off. that said, I use tungsten for texas rig 100% of the time.

The biggest advantage is feeling the bottom better. Tungsten with braid is awesome. You'll feel every pebble. It's expensive no doubt though.

I switched to a Tungsten weight and I thought "dang, what is all that I am feeling down there".
I had to change my whole way of thinking when fishing with a TR or Car. rigged worm. I could "feel" a lot more than what I could with lead.

When we fished with a local Falcon guide he recommended a 1 1/2oz C-Rig weight. It worked better for us than anything lighter. More noise and better feel for the bottom with the heavy weight. Extra Heavy action rod. 65# Power Pro main line and 20-25# mono leader. Magnum Fluke, 7" Senko, etc.
